HYSTEROSONOGRAMS
Service 1
A Saline Infusion Sonohysterogram is ordered by your doctor because of a uterine issue, usually because of a thick endometrium ( lining) or for the location of a fibroid.
A trans abdominal and transvaginal routine sonogragram is performed first.
The procedure is very much like a Pap Smear after which sterile, ph. adjusted saline in inserted into the endometrium. This dilates the endometrium and allows the sonographer to identify a mass within the endometrium. This process is mostly painless, a uterine cramp is sometimes experienced.
